TAFMUNE EM TABLET is a combination of Tenofovir alafenamide and Emtricitabine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiretroviral drugs. It is used in adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older) along with other medicines to manage human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) infection. It can also be used to reduce the risk of getting HIV infection in adult and adolescent men who have intercourse with men. HIV targets the immune system and weakens your defence against many infections that people with healthy immune systems can fight off. As the virus destroys and impairs the function of immune cells, infected individuals gradually become immunodeficient and reach the most advanced stage of HIV infection called Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). It may present with the symptoms of any other infection like fever, throat pain, extreme tiredness, weight loss, muscle pain, etc. During course of the management your doctor might take regular blood tests to avoid any untoward side effects. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking TAFMUNE EM TABLET as it may cause bone problems. TAFMUNE EM TABLET is not suitable for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 11 years). Before taking TAFMUNE EM TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any flu-like illness, kidney, heart or liver problems, hepatitis B or other sexually transmitted infections. TAFMUNE EM TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women only if advised by the doctor. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking TAFMUNE EM TABLET as it can pass into breast milk. The most common side effects of taking TAFMUNE EM TABLET are nausea, headache, dizziness, diarrhoea, stomach pain and tiredness. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.
