SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT contains Salicylic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Keratolytic agents. SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT is used manage skin conditions such as psoriasis, dry, scaly skin conditions and acne. It is also used to manage dandruff, corn and calluses (thickened layers of skin) in affected individuals.
SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Salicylic acid. It is also not recommended for use in patients with active inflammation/dermatitis, infection (at the application site), acute viral infection, skin malignancy, and/or tanned skin. Before applying SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT, inform your doctor if you are scheduled for surgery, and/or suffering from any kidney problems. SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. If you are a breastfeeding women, consult your doctor before using the medicine. Avoid applying the medicine on skin areas which might come in direct contact with infant’s skin.
SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 1-15 years). It is also advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor before applying the medicine. The most common side effects of applying SALICYLIX SF 12% OINTMENT are erythema (skin redness) or skin dryness. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.
