RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION contains Artesunate which belongs to the group of medicines called Antimalarials. It is used for the management of severe malaria including cerebral malaria in adult and paediatric patients. Also, it can also be used against quinine resistance.
Malaria is mosquito-borne acute febrile disease caused by a protozoan named Plasmodium falciparum. It is characterized by symptoms such as high fever, chills, sweating, headache, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, body aches, weakness, agitation, confusion, fainting on standing up and anaemia (reduced red blood cell count). Cerebral malaria is the most severe neurological complication of Plasmodium falciparum malaria which may also cause coma.
RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION is not recommended for use if you have previous history of allergic reactions to artesunate or artemisinin derivatives. Before receiving RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION inform your doctor if you liver or kidney problems or any other problems.
RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION is not recommended for use during first trimester of pregnancy. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION.
RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION should be used with caution in children. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION to your child.
The most common side effects associated with the use of RTSUNATE 60 INJECTION are dizziness, light-headedness, headache, rash, hair loss, taste alteration (metallic/bitter taste), nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects bothers you.
