RIBAXA 150 TABLET is used in the management of various types of cancer such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer that is caused or relapsed due to certain gene mutations (like BRCA, HER-2 negative genes). It can be used as a single agent or in combination with other anticancer agents for effective management.
It contains a medicine called Olaparib which is an anticancer agent. It works by blocking the actions of certain enzymes which is required for the cancer cells to grow and multiply.
RIBAXA 150 TABLET should be used under careful medical supervision. It can be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking RIBAXA 150 TABLET without consulting your doctor.
During therapy with RIBAXA 150 TABLET, your doctor will schedule blood tests regularly in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this medicine and to avoid side effects. Make sure you take all the blood test recommended by your doctor. Do not drink grapefruit juice along with this medicine, as it may affect the way this medicine works.
RIBAXA 150 TABLET should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as it could harm the unborn baby or nursing infant. Women of childbearing potential must use a very effective contraceptive (hormone medicines and condoms) to avoid pregnancy while on therapy with Olaparib. Men must also use condoms to avoid sexual exposure of Olaparib to their female partners even if they are pregnant.
Before taking RIBAXA 150 TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. The most common side effects of taking RIBAXA 150 TABLET are nausea, vomiting, tiredness, weakness, indigestion or heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, upper stomach pain, low RBC, WBC and platelet levels, headache, Changes in taste of foods, skin rashes and mouth ulcers. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects troubles you.
