MINIRIN NASAL SPRAY contains Desmopressin which belongs to the group of medicines called Synthetic antidiuretic peptide. It is a synthetic analogue called 8-arginine vasopressin (ADH), an antidiuretic hormone affecting renal water conservation. It is used for central or neurogenic diabetes insipidus, bleeding disorders nocturnal enuresis.
Desmopressin works by reducing the amount of water eliminated in the urine by the kidneys. It enhances the reabsorption of water in the kidneys. Avoid drinking large amounts of water or fluid while you are using this medicine. This could lead to a build-up of water which dilutes the salt in the body and may cause a serious problems or convulsions.
Before using this medicine, consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, because, blood pressure monitoring is recommended due to the increased risk of pre-eclampsia. MINIRIN NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice. Do not use this medicine if you have any blood disorders or if you are aged 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before using. The most common side effects of using this medicine are headache, stomach pain and swelling of ankles.
