METASONE S OINTMENT is a combination of Mometasone and Salicylic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Dermatological agents. METASONE S OINTMENT is used to manage psoriasis, especially in case of intensive scaling, in adults and adolescents (above 12 years of age).
Psoriasis is a type of skin disease that causes a skin rash with itchy, scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp which is a common, long-term disease that occurs due to triggering factors such as infections, cuts, burns and/or certain medications which is generally painful and tends to go through cycles, flaring for a few weeks to months.
Avoid applying METASONE S OINTMENT if you have bacterial infection such as pyoderma (pus-producing skin disease), syphilis (sexually transmited bacterial disease), tuberculosis, viral infections such as herpes simplex, chicken pox, fungal infections such as dermatophyte, yeast and rosacea (type of skin disease) marked by reddens and or other changes of the skin in the facial area.
Before applying METASONE S OINTMENT, inform your doctor if you are receiving ultraviolet management and have any other skin problems. METASONE S OINTMENT is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding women should consult their doctor before use.
METASONE S OINTMENT is recommended for use in children and adolescents (above 12 years of age). The most common side effects of using METASONE S OINTMENT are weak to moderate burning sensation at the site of application, itching and localized thinning of the skin. Consult your doctor if any of the side effect gets worse.
