DAXID 100MG TABLET is an antidepressant medication used in the management of
depression
, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is also used to manage recurrent depression in adults and obsessive-compulsive disorder in children and adolescents aged 6–17 years old. Additionally, it is used to manage premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a condition characterized by depression and irritability before menstruation in women.
It contains a medicine called sertraline which belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of medications. The medication can be taken with or without food, as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and frequency based on your symptoms.
Typically, treatment starts with a lower dose that is gradually increased. It’s important not to adjust the dosage or stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better, as doing so may worsen your condition or cause withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, palpitations, dizziness, or sleep disturbances.
To maximize its effectiveness, take the medication at the same time each day. If you experience difficulty sleeping, your doctor may recommend taking it in the morning. It may take a few weeks for the medication to show noticeable improvement in symptoms, so inform your doctor if you do not feel better after 4 weeks.
Common side effects of Sertraline 50mg Tablet include nausea, indigestion, loss of appetite, increased sweating, tremors, insomnia, and diarrhea. It may also cause sexual side effects such as reduced libido, delayed ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction.
