BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION contains
Exenatide
which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihyperglycemic agents. It is used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes in combination with metformin and sulfonylurea, when metformin or sulfonylurea plus diet and exercise have failed to adequately control blood sugar levels. BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION is also used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes in combination with insulin glargine (with or without metformin) when insulin glargine (with or without metformin) plus diet and exercise have failed to adequately control blood sugar levels.
Avoid taking meals before receiving BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION. This medicine is not recommended if you have diabetic ketoacidosis and type 1 diabetes. Before receiving BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have or had severe problems with stomach (gastroparesis), severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration or a history of pancreatitis. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION use in pregnant women. Hence it should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. This medicine should be administered with caution in breastfeeding women.
The most common side effects of receiving BYETTA PEN 5MG INJECTION are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, feeling jittery, dizziness, headache, acid stomach, heartburn and injection site reactions (rash, itching, bruising). Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects persists for a longer duration.
