AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT is used to manage bacterial conjunctivitis (bacterial infection that affects the mucous membrane of the eye) caused by susceptible microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mitis group, and Streptococcus pneumonia in affected individuals.
It contains a medicine called
Azithromycin
, which belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics that works by preventing the growth of bacteria and helps clear up the infection.
AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT is not recommended for use if you are allergic to azithromycin. It should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also advised to be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 1 to 18 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of using AZITHRAL EYE OINTMENT are eye irritation and conjunctival hyperaemia (acute inflammation of the eye). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
