ANXIPROL 100 TABLET contains Opipramol which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidepressants. ANXIPROL 100 TABLET is used to manage generalised anxiety disorder and somatic disturbances (a mental health condition in which a person feels significantly distressed about physical symptoms such as pain or fatigue and has abnormal thoughts, feelings and behaviours in response to them). Generalised anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder that produces fear, worry, and a constant feeling of being overwhelmed. It is characterized by symptoms such as excessive, persistent, and unrealistic worry about everyday things.
Opipramol works by binding to certain receptors (sigma receptor) in the brain and spinal cord, as a result it works in the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor system and influences the neurotransmitters glutamate and dopamine (messenger substances in the brain) and produces a calming and anxiety-relieving effect followed by enhancement of mood.
ANXIPROL 100 TABLET should be used during first trimester of pregnancy unless clearly advised by your doctor and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking it. ANXIPROL 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver or kidney disease, heart problems such as pre-existing high-grade atrioventricular block or supraventricular or ventricular conduction disturbances, acute urinary retention, unmanageed glaucoma, brain damage and fits.
ANXIPROL 100 TABLET should be used with caution in children (above 6 years of age) and child’s doctor may adjust the dose depending upon body weight. The most common side effects of taking ANXIPROL 100 TABLET are fatigue, dry mouth, stuffy nose and low blood pressure. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.
