AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION contains Ampicillin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, respiratory tract (bronchus, lungs), urinary tract, genital tract, stomach, blood, brain and skin or soft tissues.
It can also be used to manage typhoid fever, meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain), peritonitis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach) and endocarditis (inflammation of the lining of the heart and its valves).
AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION should be used under medical supervision. Do not stop receiving AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.
During therapy with AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION, your doctor will periodically monitor your health condition through several blood tests/urine tests to access the improvement in your condition and to reduce the risk of unwanted side effects. AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION is suitable for use in adults and in children (aged 10 years or older; weighing 20 kg or more).
Before receiving AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have blood cancer or any viral infections (such as cytomegalovirus infection) as a precaution.
AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION should be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if considered necessary by the physician. The most common side effects of receiving AMPIVAC 500 INJECTION are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Inform your doctor if they trouble you.
