ALPHADOPA L 100MG TABLET contains Labetalol which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha, Beta Adrenergic Antagonists. It is used to manage hypertension and angina. It can also be used to control hypertension among pregnant women.
Hypertension (also known as high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the artery remains very high and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying vital organs, such as heart, kidney or brain. If left unmanageed, it may cause serious complications such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke or even blindness.
Angina pectoris is a type of chest pain caused due to an inadequate supply of oxygen to the heart muscle. Symptoms include severe chest pain, tightness or heaviness with dizziness, fatigue, sweating, shortness of breath and fast heart rate.
Before taking ALPHADOPA L 100MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any other types of anginas (such as Prinzmetal angina), psoriasis, diabetes or if you are scheduled for any surgery (including cataract surgery) in the upcoming days as a precaution.
ALPHADOPA L 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, hypotension (low blood pressure) or shock. It is also not suitable for use in patients with heart block, history of heart attack or heart failure.
ALPHADOPA L 100MG TABLET should be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking ALPHADOPA L 100MG TABLET are difficulty in passing urine, problems in erection or ejaculation, dizziness and tingling sensation in the scalp. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect troubles you.
