Alfalog Tablet is a nutritional supplement that contains Ketoanalogues (essential amino acids for uremic patients). Ketoanalogues maintain nitrogen levels and tend to serve as one of the nutrients for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients at stages I, II and III. It helps to worsen the progression of chronic kidney disease.
Ketoanalogue consists of amino acids and calcium compounds, which make use of the nitrogen in non-essential amino acids and turn them into essential amino acids to reduce the production of urea nitrogen and relieves the building up of nitrogenous wastes and other toxic substances in the body. Hence, ketoanalogue supplementation during a low-protein diet may reduce the risk of commencing long-term dialysis or of developing the composite outcome in patients with advanced CKD, especially when used at an appropriate dosage.
Always take Alfalog Tablet as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Recommended dosage in adults is four to eight tablets three times daily during meals. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines including prescription, over the counter medications, as well as vitamin or herbal supplements.
