ABSENZ SYRUP contains Ethosuximide which belongs to a group of medicines called Anti-epileptics. It is used in the management of epilepsy. It controls brief, sudden loss of consciousness (absence seizures or petit mal seizures) and uncontrolled jerking movements (myoclonic seizure).
Epilepsy is a condition of central nervous system in which the brain activity becomes abnormal causing seizures (fits), episodes of unusual behaviour, sensations and loss of awareness.
Prior to the management with ABSENZ SYRUP your doctor might ask you to take several diagnostic tests to better assess your condition.
Before taking ABSENZ SYRUP inform your doctor if you have porphyria (metabolism disorder), liver or kidney disease.
ABSENZ SYRUP should be taken with doctor’s consultation in pregnant women. It is not recommended to take ABSENZ SYRUP in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
The most common side effects of taking ABSENZ SYRUP are decreased appetite, headache, difficulty in controlling movements, dizziness, drowsiness, stomachache and cramps, feeling sick, vomiting, skin rash. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.
